Westfield Area YMCA 2022 Summer Day Camps Garwood and Westfield Locations EAT SLEEP CAMP REPEATREGISTRATION Registration begins January 3 for Early Bird Special only. Deposit only registration begins February 1. We recommend that you register early as camps fill quickly. The following is required at registration: • Active membership for camper (unless camp is available to a non-member) • Deposits (or full payment after the due dates below) • Registration form • Health History form Current members may register online at www.westfieldynj.org. In-person registration is also available at the Main Y Welcome Center. DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS • Deposit: $100 per session. • Payment: Balance is due May 10 for weeks 1-4 and June 10 for weeks 5-9. In-person registration balances will be automatically charged to the credit card provided for deposit unless arrangements are made in advance to pay by cash, check or a different credit card. For online registrations, a Y staff member will contact you for payment as credit card information for online deposits is not stored. Unpaid balances after the due date are considered a cancellation—deposit is forfeited, and registration canceled. • Wait list: Deposits are not required to be placed on a wait list. • Late pick-up fee: $20 for every 15 minutes after camp end time. CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS Changes and cancellations must be made by email to camp@westfieldynj.org. There are no Y credits or refunds for deposits or membership fees. Y credits expire one year from date of issue. All refunds are charged a 5% cancel- lation fee. Changes are permitted as available up to two weeks prior to session without a change fee and within two weeks of a camp start date for a $25 change fee. Canceling any week of camp follows the policy below: • Before February 15: Receive refund less 5% cancellation fee or Y credit for total amount paid. • February 15-April 1: Receive refund less 5% cancellation fee and $100 per session deposit (if paid-in-full, $100 per session is considered deposit) or receive Y credit less $100 per session deposit. • After April 1: No refunds or credits. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE We believe in serving the needs of all members of our community including those who may be unable to pay the full cost of membership or programs. Financial assistance is available for Traditional, Extended Day and Leadership camps. Applicant must live or work in our service area of Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside or Westfield. Financial assistance requests for camp are due by April 30. Applications received later will be considered on an as-available basis. SPECIAL OFFERS January Early Bird Special: Pay in full for camps and get a 10% discount. Not valid for Before Care or After Care. Offer is valid online or in-person 1/3-1/31/22. Multiple Child Discount: Receive a 5% discount for additional children in the same family registered for the same week(s) of any traditional camps. Discount is applied to the camper(s) with the lower camp fee. Offer must be applied during in-person registration and is not available for online registrations. NOTE: In-person registration is required to receive both specials simultaneously. MEDICAL FORMS Forms are available online or at the Main Y Welcome Center: • Health History Form is due at time of registration for all campers. This form can be amended and resubmitted prior to camp if there are changes to the camper’s health history. A physician’s signature is not required. • Medical Distribution Form is due first day of camp if your child needs medication while at camp, such as use of an EpiPen, asthma inhaler or any other medication. The medication must be in its original container labeled with child’s name and prescription. A physician’s signature is required. • Allergy Action Plan Form is due first day of camp if your child has allergies. A physician’s signature is required. SUMMER NEWS & FORMS Include your e-mail on the registration form to receive newsletters, permission slips and other required forms for camp. Information is also posted throughout the summer on our website at www.westfieldynj.org. Also, be sure to “like us” on Facebook and “follow us” on Instagram! MEMBERSHIP Most camps are only available to Westfield Area Y members. The camper’s membership must be active at the time of registration and through the end of registered camps. The fee for a camp is locked-in according to the membership category at the time of registration and will not change should membership category change. A non-member may register for a total of one week of specialty camps at the non-member fee. Family category members receive the lowest camp fees and have full membership privileges. Westfield Area YMCA Summer Day Camps provide safe, engaging, fun and meaningful camp experiences with enriching activities, fitness, and social and emotional learning for children ages 3-15. Campers enjoy a variety of activities and themes every day with friends and peers exploring math, science, arts, sports, nature and global diversity. Our curriculum promotes teamwork, enhances self-esteem and builds skills while incorporating the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our staff receive over 20 hours of pre-camp training including certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid with EpiPen administration, asthma inhaler training, anti-bullying prevention, behavior management, child abuse awareness and much more. We also have a full time first responder on staff for summer camp. Our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association and meet up to 300 standards for health, safety and program quality. As safety is our #1 priority, all camps meet or exceed CDC and Health Department guidelines. Camps and activities are subject to change based on guidelines in place at the time of camp. FUN 4 SUMMER Ages 4-5 7:00AM-6:00PM 4-week session • 3 & 5 day option (as available) Week 2-5, 6-9 A full day of fun with indoor and outdoor experiences including hands-on learning, exploration with art, dramatic play, building, two large playgrounds, water activities, games and music. Pack your sunscreen and bug spray, we love the sunshine and fresh air that the Watchung Reservation has to offer! We experience the great outdoors through hikes, compass activities, animal watching, and just playing in the dirt. Other activities include traditional sports,team building games, creative art projects, and STEAM projects. Use of the Loop Playground and Trailside Museum are incorporated in the weekly schedule. Recreational swim is at the Main Y. Grey skies and rain never ruin Blue Sky, we simply bring the fun to an indoor space! Each week features an exciting special event or trip. CITs not only learn techniques for working with young children but will be provided educational experiences for career readiness. From mock interviews to resume tips, these activities and workshops will be motivating, interactive and fun. The goal is to obtain the skills necessary to become successful in the workplace and a positive role model. Other activities include team building, outdoor sports, games, special events, trips and swimming. Learn about the different types of dinosaurs, their eating habits and their habitats. This camp explores earth science to understand how earth has changed through shifting of lands or earthquakes and why dinosaurs are now extinct. Design and build your own blinking magic wand and catapult to launch snitches. Mix up potions and use an invisible cloak in Minecraft. Learn the rules, the value and movement of the pieces, and the strategies and object of the game—checkmate! This week is designed to help campers of all different skill levels become better players. Chess aids critical thinking skills, improves academic performance, builds sportsmanship, boosts self-confidence, and promotes discipline, all while being interesting, challenging, and fun to play!
