Participants will learn new skills for 25 minutes and put those skills in action for a short 25-30 minute game after the practice session. All players will receive a YMCA reversible style jersey and will be assigned a different color each week. Upon completion, each participant will receive a certificate allowing full use of the fitness center with a supervising adult. Note: Additional fees apply. YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES Itty Bitty Soccer Ages 3-5 Itty Bitty Sports instructional class is designed to introduce your child to the sport of soccer. The class will run in 6-week cycles. The main objectives of the course are for each child to have fun, build self-esteem and learn the basic fundamentals. Itty Bitty Basketball/T-Ball Ages 3-5 Itty Bitty Sports instructional class is designed to introduce your child to the sports of basketball and t-ball. The class will run in 6-week cycles. The first three weeks will focus on basketball and the second three weeks will focus on t-ball. The main objectives of the course are for each child to have fun, build self-esteem and learn the basic fundamentals. Space is limited to 8 participants. Learn More HUTTO FAMILY YMCA 12Rookie Plus+ League Grades 1st - 8th (ages 6-14) Rookie Plus+ players will receive a uniform package different for each sport. Season will consist of 7 to 8 practices, 6 games and a guaranteed 1-game season end tournament for each age group. Scores and standings will be kept. Our rules have been adjusted to ensure better parity and limit the ability of a team to “run up the score.” Players will be ensured to play half of each game. Together they will work to increase the child’s attention span, special awareness, and motor skills. This will be accomplished with group activities like games and songs, rotation on vault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline. Ratio of one child per adult. Developmental Gymnastics Ages 4-5 This class prepares your child for the beginner level. Your child will be introduced to basic body positioning and gymnastics terminology, basic tumbling skills, proper technique using bars, balance beam and vault. 6 Week Intro Ages 5-13 This 6-week class is used by instructors as an evaluation tool. Instructors will teach the basic skills needed to promote to the beginner level classes. It may be necessary to repeat the 6-week class before moving forward to the monthly program offered at the CHASCO YMCA facility. Registration required & fees apply for all Gymnastics Programs. EDUCATION & LEADERSHIP Babysitting Certification Ages 9-15 Our two-part course takes teens through all elements of becoming a well-trained babysitter in order to handle situations that may arise when taking care of children. The course starts out by teaching the basics of handling children, changing diapers, feedings, rescue breathing and general safety rules. Students will also learn to build a resume and how to manage their babysitting business. The second part of the course takes students through the Red Cross First Aid/CPR training for babies and young children. Once both parts of the course are completed, students will then be tested in order to obtain a certification. Crafy Kidz Ages 5-8 Children will learn different crafting ideas from art work, painting, mosaic work, soap making, and needle art. Let your child’s imagination soar! Weekly evaluations are held and upon registration you will meet twice weekly. Classes include age-appropriate swim training, stroke mechanics, endurance training, and goal setting. CERTIFICATIONS Swim Instructor Training Gain the knowledge and apply the skills necessary to become a certified instructor during our Swim Instructor Training classes. Participants must be 16 years of age by the last day of class, have their certifications in CPR Pro, First Aid, AED & Oxygen Administration current. Additionally, be proficient in four strokes, tread water for two minutes, perform six synchronized swimming skills and a standing dive off the pool deck, and pass, catch and shoot a ball while swimming.
