Women’s Weight Training class helps you start building your happiest and strongest you! This program is meant to improve your strength, muscle size and conditioning simultaneously. Each week we will build upon the strength and skills you learned from the previous week. You will learn proper form and technique while lifting free weights and bars, as well as learning to lift ‘heavy’ in such movements such as deadlifts, squats, lunges and various strength moves. This one-hour workout strengthens your entire body by challenging all of your major muscle groups with the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight will inspire you to get the results you came for - and fast! Athletic Training 45 minutes of non-stop action, focusing on strength training, cardio, and plyometrics- those explosive power moves like high-knee jumps and burpees. Working at 110% effort, followed by short periods of rest and recovery. This workout will improve strength and build lean muscle. YOGA/PILATES Yoga This mind and body class involves slow movements and postures in order to develop discipline, strength, balance and flexibility. All classes are multi-level. Since a limited number of mats are available for use, we recommend that you bring your own yoga mat. SilverSneakers ® Circuit Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscle endurance. Class will consist of standing low impact choreography alternated with sitting or standing upper body strength work using hand weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball. A chair is offered for support during the class. SilverSneakers ® The nation’s leading exercise program designed exclusively for Medicare beneficiaries. As a participant, you enjoy all amenities included with a basic membership, Senior Advisors’ assistance, social events and specialized low-impact SilverSneakers ® classes that focus on improving muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, range of movement, balance, agility and coordination. Notably, eligible participants receive a no-cost basic membership courtesy of select health insurance companies and all SilverSneakers ® classes are available to Y members. SilverSneakers ® I Muscular Strength & Range of Movement (MSROM) This program will see you move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and skills required during activities for daily living (ADL). Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and standing support, stretching and relaxation. Line Dance Line dance is a fun choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows, all facing either each other or in the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time. Chair Yoga Chair yoga assists in supporting individuals for a safe yoga experience. It provides the ability to perform a variety of seated and standing posters designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement while reducing anxiety and stress. Strength & Tone Stay strong with this workout designed for active older adults of all fitness levels. This class includes a variety of exercises geared at increasing muscular endurance, range of motion and agility required for activities of daily living. ChildWatch is more than just a safe place to look after your children while at the Y. This program offers children and infants the chance to get the most out of their own visit to the Y through playing, learning and staying physically active. Age requirements, time limits and hours vary by branch. Free Family Fridays Ages 12mos-13yrs One Friday each month from 5-8pm, parents who are Y Family Members can drop off their children (12mos-13yrs) for a free evening of fun while they enjoy an early dinner or just fulfill other obligations. Space is limited and only one of these programs is allotted per month to each family. Please note, parents must sign up in advance (beginning the last Saturday of each month for the next month) for the evening that they plan to have their children attend (holiday weekends are excluded). Parents can add an extra hour ($5) to 9pm or add on pizza ($4.00) Craft Pizza Play Ages 12mos-13yrs Hours 5pm-9pm. This program includes pizza, juice, and a craft. This night specifically focuses on a craft. We have done ceramics, canvas painting, tie dye and more! Kid’s Night Out Ages 12mos-13yrs It’s 8pm on a Saturday night, do you know where your kids are? Of course you do! They’re eating pizza, playing games and making friends at the Y during this evening event. Children in attendance should wear comfortable clothing (including socks), blankets, a pillow and/ or pj’s are welcome. Runs from 5-9pm. Y Afterschool Grades K–5 We offer afterschool care until 6:30pm and all-day care on most school holidays, including summer, at convenient school sites throughout Central Texas. Participants gain a sense of achievement, build relationships and find their sense of belonging. Mother’s Day Out Ages 1yr-5yrs What better way to help out mom than with Mother’s Day Out! This great bonding experience will provide the building blocks of learning for children (1yr-5yrs). Our program curriculum includes art, cognitive development, social and emotional development and physical development.
