Use kettleballs, slam balls, ropes and more in this fun, intense workout! Fuse Cardio Fuse is a fun combination of cardio and resistance training. Fuse blends kickboxing, aerobics, dance and plyometrics for an intense cardio workout, and utilizes versa loops for resistance training. P90x Live ® This class consists of three or four blocks that target your cardiovascular system, upper body, lower body, and core. Instructors will use resistance and body- weight training, cardio, plyometrics, and ab work for this total body workout. Surge This is a fun workout that implements dance, HIIT and weights. R.I.P.P.E.D This class masterfully combines its components -- Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance -- as the workout portion, along with diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique. All done in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective. SMALL GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING Women on Weights Women on Weights connects 3-5 women with a certified personal trainer that teaches them correct and safe use and progression of pin-loaded equipment, plate-loaded equipment, free weights, and other exercise modalities. This is a great program to learn weight room techniques, build confidence and create community with other women. Training groups meet one day per week for 4 weeks. Member $150 Community Member $200 Shirt included! Personal Training These individual training sessions are for anyone interested in learning how to make the most of their workouts. Whether you need to lose weight, tone up, or change your current exercise routine. These sessions will allow you to have one-on-one training at an affordable price. HEALTH & FITNESS GREATER WACO YMCA 5STRENGTH/CARDIO COMBO Boot Camp You’ll challenge both your cardiovascular system and your muscles in our boot camp class. Use kettleballs, slam balls, ropes and more in this fun, intense workout! Barre Barre helps develop muscular endurance through a combination of movements derived from yoga, Pilates, and dance. Often participants use either body weight or very light weights to perform small isolating movements. Modifications and progressions make this a workout for most fitness levels. Body Shaping Use a variety of equipment from bands, balls, hand weights, and more to increase muscular strength and endurance. Participants at all fitness levels are welcome as weight, intensity and repetitions can be modified for individuals. Strength Training This class will help you become stronger by using heavier weights and fewer repetitions. This class is great for individuals looking to take their strength workout to the next level. CARDIO Body Combat Body Combat is a high-energy martial-arts inspired workout that is totally non-contact . You’ll explore disciplines, such as, karate, tae kwon do, capoeira, and muay thai. MIND/BODY FITNESS Yoga Take a moment to relax, center and unwind in these classes, but expect a great workout. Classes focus on increasing strength, balance, flexibility and assisting in relaxation. Pilates This mat-based class is unmatched at strengthening the abs, back, inner and outer thigh and glutes. CYCLE Rip & Ride In this class instructors will combine the intense cardio of a cycle class with the strengthening benefits of resistance training exercise. This is a great class for participants of all fitness levels as intensity can be increased or decreased depending on the student. Cycle This class uses the stationary bike for a cardiovascular workout that is led by an instructor who will take you on a different ride each time you come to class. Group cycle classes can be very intense, but beginners and newcomers can cycle as well. Remember to let your instructor know you are new and they will guide you through. EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTH INITIATIVES Livestrong ® at the YMCA This 12-week program allows survivors to reclaim their health and wellness after battling cancer. Among a community of other survivors, participants learn how to use and progress on various fitness equipment, and try a variety of group exercise classes all under the careful supervision of specially trained YMCA staff. Registration is required. Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program This 4-month program helps those suffering with high blood pressure learn to properly take blood pressure and to develop the habit of consistently monitoring their blood pressure. During the program, participants will meet with specially trained YMCA staff regularly, attend nutrition seminars and will receive their own blood pressure monitor to have at home. The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program This year-long program helps those that have been diagnosed with prediabetes or those that are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes learn to make lifestyle changes that will reduce their risk of developing the disease. Registration is required. Enhance Fitness ® This class is designed for individuals looking for a safe, effective no/low impact exercise option. The one-hour classes offer exercises to improve cardiovascular function, balance, flexibility and strength with the purpose of making activities of daily living easier. This class can be done standing or seated. This class meets three times per week and registration is required. MOVE is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout. SilverSneakers ® Circuit This class offers standing low-impact moves that alternate with standing upper-body strength. The class can be adapted for all fitness levels. SilverSneakers ® EnerChi SilverSneakers EnerChi is an beginner/ intermediate class that uses modified tai chi movements in a slow, flowing sequence to improve balance. SilverSneakers ® Yoga SilverSneakers yoga uses a chair so you can perform a variety of seated and standing poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. GREATER WACO YMCA 7ChildWatch ChildWatch is offered as a free service for members with family or one-adult family memberships. ChildWatch is more than just a safe place to look after your children while at the Y. This program offers children and infants the chance to get the most out of their own visit to the Y through playing, learning and staying physically active. Age requirements, time limits and hours vary by branch. Kid’s Night In Ages 6wks-12yrs It’s 9pm on a Friday night, do you know where your kids are? Of course you do! They’re eating pizza, playing games and making friends at the Y during this monthly evening event. Children in attendance should wear comfortable clothing (including socks), bring their own blankets, pillow and/or wear pajamas. DayTimeCost *Price is the same for Y member and Community member. Y Afterschool Grades K–5 The goal of our afterschool program is to ensure safety for children while promoting healthy physical and emotional growth, assisting working families, and inspiring children to learn. We strive to help each child reach their full potential by offering a positive and enriching environment that encourages the development of character, leadership and cooperative spirit. We offer afterschool care until 6pm and all-day care on most school holidays, including summer, at our Greater Waco YMCA facility throughout Central Texas.
